The Wolves
February 2022, Fess Parker Studio Theater, Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, CA
I was asked to design a sweatshirt for Santa Clara University's production of The Wolves for one of the characters to be worn onstage.

Plot: The Wolves follows a girl's soccer team through six weeks of their games. Each scene shows the team going through their group warmup routine before a different game, where they each discuss their personal joys, struggles, and losses.
In the play, one girl gets a torn ACL and can't play the rest of the game, but she still shows up to support the team, and in the script, it says that she's "wearing a 'Wolves' sweatshirt."

Concept: The show revolves around teamwork, so I knew that the design needed to have a group of Wolves on it.

Process: I started by researching some wolf mascots and team logos to get some ideas. Afterwards, I sketched out some ideas before figuring out what the layout would look like. I first sketched out half of the design, and then used a light box to draw each half symmetrically.
Once the drawing was finished, I showed the costume designer and the director, who both approved. Then, we printed them out on heat-transfer paper, and ironed it on the sweatshirt.
Bonus: The costume designer liked the design so much that she decided to use up the rest of the transfer paper and make a sweatshirt for everyone involved in the show, cast and crew.
